Discover Twinado Kitchen’S Jerk Shack

Walking into Twinado Kitchen’S Jerk Shack at 1763 Hill Rd N, Pickerington, OH 43147, United States feels less like stepping into a diner and more like being welcomed into someone’s backyard cookout. The smell hits first-warm spice, slow smoke, and that unmistakable Caribbean heat that lingers in the air. I stopped by on a busy Saturday afternoon, and within minutes it was clear why locals keep recommending this place in reviews and neighborhood food groups.

The menu leans confidently into Jamaican-inspired comfort food, with jerk chicken as the clear favorite. What stood out to me wasn’t just the heat, but the balance. The slow-smoked jerk chicken carries layers of flavor rather than overwhelming spice. That comes from a traditional marinade process that typically includes allspice, thyme, garlic, and Scotch bonnet peppers. According to culinary research published by the Journal of Ethnic Foods, proper jerk seasoning relies on marinating proteins for at least 12 hours to allow the spices to fully penetrate, and that patience shows here. The meat stays juicy, with a smoky crust that tastes like it’s been tended to all day.

I watched the kitchen team work through a steady line of orders, moving with the kind of rhythm that only comes from repetition and pride. This isn’t rushed cooking. Jerk pork and ribs are cooked low and slow, a method backed by USDA guidance for safe and flavorful barbecue, ensuring internal temperatures are met while preserving tenderness. The result is fall-off-the-bone ribs that don’t need sauce to shine, though the house-made jerk glaze adds a sweet heat that sneaks up on you.

Sides matter at a place like this, and Twinado Kitchen gets that right. The perfectly caramelized plantains offer a mellow contrast to the spice, while rice and peas come seasoned, not blandly padded out. I asked one of the staff members about the recipes, and they mentioned drawing from family cooking traditions rather than shortcuts. That lines up with what food historian Jessica B. Harris often emphasizes when discussing Caribbean cuisine-authentic flavor comes from respecting time, technique, and ingredients rather than simplifying them.

Portion sizes are generous without being sloppy, which explains why many reviews mention value as much as taste. You’re not leaving hungry, and you’re probably taking leftovers home. During my visit, I saw a couple who said they drive over from Reynoldsburg every other week because consistency matters more to them than trendiness. That kind of loyalty doesn’t happen by accident.

The location itself is easy to reach, tucked along Hill Road North with straightforward parking. While it may not be flashy, the casual setup fits the food. This is a diner-style spot where the focus stays on what’s coming out of the kitchen. Music hums in the background, conversations overlap, and the staff checks in without hovering. It feels lived-in, not staged.

From an industry standpoint, Caribbean cuisine continues to grow in popularity across the Midwest. Data from the National Restaurant Association shows increased consumer interest in global flavors, especially spice-forward menus that still feel comforting. Twinado Kitchen fits squarely into that shift while staying rooted in its own identity.

One limitation worth noting is that peak hours can mean a short wait, especially for made-to-order items like jerk chicken and ribs. That said, the wait reflects the cooking process rather than inefficiency, and most customers I spoke with agreed it was worth it.

Twinado Kitchen’s Jerk Shack doesn’t try to reinvent Caribbean food or dress it up for appearances. It focuses on doing a few things well, cooking them the right way, and serving them with confidence. That honesty comes through in every bite, and it’s exactly why this Pickerington spot keeps earning repeat visits and word-of-mouth praise.

  • On my 1st trip to the Jerk Shack I was impressed with the cleanliness of the establishment as well as the great customer service. The food was fresh and hot, made to order. I had the Loaded Jerky Fries and Chicken Rasta Pasta. The pasta was perfect with the exception of the Sweetness. I wasn't expecting it to be Sweet gravy..... however the amount of spiciness was perfect. I will definitely try this place again minus the Sweet Gravy.

  • Got off I70 exit 112A for Gas. Speedway was hidden by finally found it. It the mall strip by Speedway was this great Jerk Shack. I got the oxtail with mac n cheese and honey cornbread. The ox tail was great and flavored with the great jerk seaaoning. Mac and cornbread was also great but my low carb diet, I only tasted it and both were great. The owner is very kind and puts love into her cooking. I will keep this location as im sure i will pass by this area again. I will try the jerk chicken next time. I believe they are chicken pieces. I would recommend having jerk chicken wings as a special. If you never had jerk seasoning come try this place if u are nearby, it will open a new taste palate for you.

  • I had carryout from here once and went with the chicken and shrimp plate with cabbage and jerk stir fry. The jerk flavor was on point (solid 8 out of 10), with a good amount of heat that makes you feel it but doesn't overwhelm the food. Everything was soaking in those delicious juices and came in good portions. The chicken was nice and tender. Overall, they have a very likable menu of Jamaican staples and some fusion dishes. I'm a fan, and I'll definitely be back.

  • This was my first Caribbean cuisine experience in Central OH that I didn't regret! I’ve had a lot of misses, but this restored my trust that some place could do this genre of food justice. The jerk flavors in the chicken were spot on, and portion sizes were pretty generous for the price. I think I’ll opt for additional jerk sauce on the side next time, wasn’t completely covered, but no big deal. My highlight was the Mild Beef Patty. I inhaled it. Then a few hours later reordered - it was THAT good. My Mac and Cheese and Cabbage needed a little salt, but again - not a major concern. I will definitely be ordering from here again.

  • I've had Jerk Shack 3 or 4 times now and the food has been pretty good everytime. I tried the oxtails for the 1st time and they were delicious.

  • I met a friend who was wanting to try the food here. It did not disappoint. I had the Chicken and beef stir fry with plantains. He had the vegetarian stir fry with cabbage. Both of us liked the food, although it was slightly spicer than I expected. The portions were generous, and we were pleased with the food. My friend ordered some to take to his wife. Expect about a 15 minute wait. The lady who took our order was very pleasant and polite. The only issue we had was they were out of water, so while the food was being prepared we walked to the Speedway and got a couple of bottles. I would definitely eat here again. The restaurant was clean and neat. There were only about 5 tables in the place, but it appeared most people were getting take out.

  • I woild highly recommend this place. I ordered the Rasta Pasta it was absolutely wonderful. The owner/operater and her staff were super friendly. Customer service was outstanding. I was greeted as soon as I walked in. The atmosphere was clean, warm, and inviting. Pricing was affordable and portions sizes were satisfying. I will most definitely be visiting again.

  • Update!! Finally was able to order oxtails. They were delicious and I really don't eat things like that. My husband ordered it, I tried it, and it was good. Everything we've tried is definitely delicious. The jerk salmon was delicious. The red beans and rice was pretty good considering I really don't care for beans in my rice, but it was good. The rasta pasta was delicious, it had a nice flavor. I don't mind the sweet flavor, it's not really that sweet to me, I taste more cinnamon in it than anything else. The jerk chicken egg rolls were delicious, they had a really good flavor and the crust on the egg rolls was perfectly crispy and goes great with the sauce. The cabbage was good. The plantains are good. The food is tasty here and we would love to try the oxtails, but it's always sold out every time we come. Decent quiet atmosphere, not too many tables but a small party can sit down and enjoy their meal if necessary.
